A Few Tips Around John Deere Mower Blades
You are probably having great fun in the garden with your new John Deere Riding Mower, as well
as cutting the lawn quicker and more efficiently than ever before.
At the risk of putting a dampener on your entertainment there is one thing which you need to be aware of, to avoid
losing the great cutting quality which the machine gives you. If you have read the user’s manual then you will
already be aware that John Deere mower blades need to be replaced every now and then. This is the same with any
other brand or model, regardless of whether it is a push mower, riding lawn mover or one of the zero turn
models.
The blade is one of the mower parts which has to work hardest when you are whizzing about the
garden cutting, mulching and generally making a fun job out of something which would otherwise be a real chore.
Obviously, the longer and tougher the grass that you have the more difficult it is for any blade to cut through it.
That is why it is recommended that you cut your garden frequently, as you will find that the blade lasts longer
this way than letting your grass get out of control and then swathing your way through it twice a year, leveling
the jungle with a blade which was designed for use in a reasonably well maintained home lawn.
The price you paid for the lawn mower will probably give a good reflection of the quality of the
blade. The highest priced lines come with a high quality, durable and genuinely cutting edge blade. Cheaper models
will generally have a good blade but it might wear out and get blunt fairly quickly. If you see that your blade is
wearing out or dulling very quickly then you should check with your dealer or repair shop, to see if there it has
been incorrectly fitted or if it is the wrong type of blade for your model of machine.
It is recommended that you replace your mower blade roughly once a year. The replacement blades
are not difficult to find and not very expensive either. Having a quick look online or going to your local store
will provide you with the information necessary for you to make an informed decision on the blades which fit your
specific lawn mower. Another option is to look at getting the blade re-sharpened, either professionally or by
buying a sharpening tool or kit. The cost and availability of new blades probably means that it makes more sense to
buy a new one. You could fit this in with the maintenance schedule for you mower, to avoid having to remember when
a new blade purchase is due.
An option available, which will help you save money in the short term, is to buy cheaper blades
than the branded ones which came with your lawn tractor. This is probably not a good idea, as you may find that the
performance is affected or that the blade lasts less time than the original
John Deere mower blades .
